MRSA Screen
- A MRSA Culture is obtained by rolling a Culture Swab against the inner surface of the nasal cavity, just inside the nares. A single swab can be used for both nares. This culture is used to assess staphylococcal colonization to rule out S.aureus and MRSA.
- Use the bar code label with patient’s name and ID to identify the specimen.
- Hold at room temperature.
- Due to short stability, specimen must be collected and shipped to the laboratory Monday through Friday only.
