MRSA Screen

  1. A MRSA Culture is obtained by rolling a Culture Swab against the inner surface of the nasal cavity, just inside the nares. A single swab can be used for both nares. This culture is used to assess staphylococcal colonization to rule out S.aureus and MRSA.
  2. Use the bar code label with patient’s name and ID to identify the specimen.
  3. Hold at room temperature.
  4. Due to short stability, specimen must be collected and shipped to the laboratory Monday through Friday only.
