- The swab system is guaranteed sterile until the seal is broken. Do not use swab if seal is broken.
- Peel open and remove the swab from the package.
- Remove the cap/swab stick from the system.
- Collect the appropriate specimen and place the swab into the system. Push the cap to bring the swab into contact with the transport medium.
- Use the bar code label with patient’s name and ID to identify the specimen.
- Place the labeled specimen in a plastic Transport Bag.
- Hold at room temperature.
- Due to short stability, specimens must be collected and shipped to the laboratory Monday through Friday only.
