May be useful in assessing thyroid dysfunction. In patients with clinical suspicion of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, testing thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is the recommended initial step. An abnormal TSH result will automatically reflex FT4 and T3 to aid in diagnosis. |
